Holiday Lane Pillow Blog Hop

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my US visitors and welcome one and all to my day of the Holiday Lane Pillow Hop.  Special Thanks are in order for Madam Samm our head cheerleader and then for this hops fearless leader, Pauline.

This is a hop for a great holiday pillow designed by Jill Finley of http://jillilystudio.blogspot.com/. When I signed up I thought this would be a great gift, but once I thought it through I decided I wanted it for me, myself and I.

Well in our house I no longer decorate with pillows. You see, when we are not at home the assistant, Miss Tink sometimes tries her paw at interior design. She is big into rearranging pillows, either for her comfort (90 pounds of drooling dog on hand made pillow, not good) or relocating them ( generally to the floor, a little better but not much).

My compromise was to make a pillow “topper” for my bed. Ok, this was a good size pillow pattern but I have a King Size bed. I needed to make Holiday Lane into Holiday Boulevard. . I was true to the original pattern size for the houses and trees, I just needed more of them.

Lots more of them. In fact  I needed 15  houses and 8 trees.

When it came time to deck the houses out I realized I didn’t want to do any stitchery ( I hate to stitch through fusible bond by hand ). So I improvised.

I just love my scrappy windows, they are bonded on. When I went to do the door knobs I thought I could use my hole punch to get little circles. Couldn’t find the hole punch but while I was searching for it I found really neat brads. They worked out so nicely.

All in all I love Holiday (Lane) Boulevard, it’s a wonderful place to celebrate the season.

OK so now I have a giveaway, anyone who comments will be eligible for my drawing. The giveaway is my version of the pincushion found here. http://emilytaylordesign.com/pretty-parcel-pin-cushion-tutorial/   Of course it's not done yet.  But I won't draw a name until Dec 1 so I have plenty of time.

Here is a list of the other bloggers participating today.  Please stop and vist with them.

Thursday November 22
I know it’s Thanksgiving here, but I would like to take this time to wish all of my blogging friends and acquaintances following this Hop a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

So after we got our power back and the house up and running and all the candles and batteries put away we decided to go ahead with our plans to take our 7 year old nephew to Disney as promised.
We had a wonderful time seeing the parks through his eyes.

Now that I'm back I am pushing to get all of my projects back on track.  First up is making some super easy disappearing 9 patch blocks that will be made into quilts for Sandy survivors.

This project is being coordinated by Erin at
http://vesuviusmama.blogspot.com/2012/11/taking-action-wanna-help.html

Stop by and see what she is doing and give a helping hand if possible.

It is a great block and will work into  great quilts in no time

Now that they are in the mail I am working on a baby quilt for a gal I work with who is expecting her first grand child.

My list only has about 9 projects on it to be done in the next few weeks. Only 2 of which are for Christmas. And one is for the Holiday Lane Pillow Blog Hop which starts next week, I might have to bump that one to the top of the list.

Oh well I must be off to stitch.  Have a great evening.

My contribution to the UR Priceless Blog Hop

Let me begin with thanks to our fearless leaders, Katherine of Sew Me Something Good and Madame Samm.  Also thanks to all of the contributors to this great hop.

I am writing this on Sunday evening and setting it up for release on my day, Wednesday.

We live in central New Jersey, and while Sandy was here and has left us without electricity that is all the inconvienience she has caused us. We and our families are very fortunate in this regard.  We are scattered all over the NY/ NJ metro area and while we are not happy due to the electricity issues  and  minimal property damage, thank God everyone of us is OK.

Holy cow, we have power, It's 8:15 on Sunday.  We lost power Monday at 8:56, thats 41 minutes short of a week without power.

If my power on my lap top holds I will be back to add the other participants for today.(DONE)  If they don't show up, please forgive me, I'll give it my best shot.

So on with the show.

When I first heard about this hop I just had to make  this little purse, here is the front

and here is the back.

I made it for my niece's birthday to go with her birthday goodies from last years Ghastlies Hop.

It fits in so well.

then I had these great purple scraps that I thought would make a great little purse

went to take a second artsie picture but my ever faithful assistant put the cobash on that, they do have very cute bottoms don't they.

Last year I made myself a plaid, wool bag.  I still had some scraps and I thought I'd try them out.
I love this little guy.

Here they both are.  The assistant is just waiting to pounce.  It is a good thing that she is cute.

So now that I tried wool, how about trying corduroy?

I was just as happy with it as with the wool so I thought that I would make a bag to match it.

And then the lights went out.  This is a far as I got before my sewing machine became a table decoration instead of my best friend.

So here is my line up. Cute as can be and such fun to make.
Sew now please go and visit all of todays other contributers.
